Alfiani Solikah was a flight attendant who flew her very last flight of her life last October 29. She was one of the 6 flight attendants on board Lion Air flight 610 which crashed to the Java Sea. There were 189 people on board which includes 181 passengers, 2 pilots, and 6 flight attendants. Just recently, some of her last pictures surfaced on social media, one of them being her very last picture.
Before that tragic flight, F/A Alfiani posted some pictures on Instagram which included some pictures with her co-workers and a picture at Bandung taken last October 25, 4 days before the crash.
In her Instagram post, the caption said (originally written in Indonesian) "It's dark outside, let me save that light." Sympathizers with messages of love poured in after the tragic incident.
A flight attendant steps inside an aircraft 6 days a week, and up to 4 times a day. It may seem all glamorous but the danger and risk of being in that job is very high. During unfortunate incidents, flight attendants are the last to leave an aircraft while saving the lives of 100+ passengers. This is why being a flight attendant is not just a job, it is a calling, a calling to save lives even if they have to put their very own in great danger.
Yes flight attendants may post pictures everyday on social media, all happy and looking great. Behind those pictures though, they face great danger, and may also be their very last picture.
The best reward we could give them for their unsung heroism of ensuring the safety and security of passengers is to respect, obey, and thank them, especially knowing that these flight attendants are highly trained to save the lives of passengers during unfortunate situations even if it may cost their own.
Last but not least, the best thing we can do for them is to always pray for their safety, together with the safety of the flight deck crew and the passengers they are carrying.
Our prayers and sympathies go to Alfiani Solekah together with the rest of the crew and passengers on board Lion Air flight 610.
