As it prepares to restart its scheduled passenger flights, Oman Air is now providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their flight attendants, together with additional safety measures.
Oman Air now joins the list of many global airlines that ensures the health and safety of flight attendants by providing them with PPEs amid their longer exposure to passengers in the middle of the CoviD-19 pandemic.
While airports are implementing other safety measures before passengers board the aircraft, some airlines have taken added measures to ensure the health of their crew particularly the cabin crew.
Oman Air's PPE include a disposable full-body gown, a face mask, face shield, and gloves to ensure their protection against viruses like the coronavirus.
According to the Oman Observer, considerable care is taken to ensure the crews’ adherence to official safety requirements at all times, to include during flights, on layovers, and throughout quarantine periods which are required after their flights.
Crew members who operate flights are closely monitored and quarantined upon arrival in Muscat, as per official directives. The crew on quarantine who reside in crew accommodations are moved to a designated building and provided with separate flats.
The local crew on quarantine in their homes are monitored by the airline’s welfare team and doctors to ensure their well-being and adherence to the quarantine requirements.
Oman Air now joins a number of global airlines that provide PPE to their cabin crew. In the Middle East region, these include Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Saudia. Other airlines that provide full PPE for the protection of their cabin crew are Cambodia Airlines, EVA Air, Korean Air, and Pakistan International Airlines.
In the Philippines, almost all local airlines provide PPEs for their cabin crew namely Philippine Airlines, PAL Express, AirAsia Philippines, Pan Pacific Airlines, Royal Air, and SkyJet.
At the same time, Philippine Airlines and AirAsia are the only airlines in the world who make use of functional branding-inspired designer PPEs for their flight attendants.
