Many flight attendants are now putting up various businesses. Many have came up with different ideas and different ventures like Ube Cheese Bread, Sushi Bake, frozen Samgyup, and other trendy consumable products which are now beginning to be a hit. One flight attendant decided to go a different direction. Instead of a B to C (business to consumer) model, she resorted to a B to B (business to business) model.
This is Cebu Pacific flight attendant Yvonnie Jean Dalanon who was also greatly affected by the pandemic. Instead of allowing herself to be beaten, she used the situation to push herself to open a business. "Back when everything was still normaI always found myself coming up with reasons why I wasn’t ready to launch any small business. Experiencing the pandemic and in not being able to fly I saw an opportunity to gain more courage and the drive to strive harder to earn," she said.
Yvonnie opened a small business that uses the B to B model. The name is Dimp's Packaging Supplies where she sells Glass Jars/Bottles, PET Jars/Bottles, Food Grade Containers, Clamchells, Ziplock Pouch, and other packaging solutions. With the number of people opening small online businesses, she decided to make those people her market instead of selling to the regular consumers.
"We came up to this idea to be able to provide packaging supplies to aspiring entrepreneurs and be able to start their own business despite this pandemic," Yvonnie shared. Smart huh?
She also believes that being a flight attendant has helped her grow her business. "Flight attendants are known for being persevering and deligent in every duty we do. And I think that’s the factors that really helped me in becoming an entrepreneur."
According to Yvonnie, their best selling jars & bottles are mostly M7361 (4oz) & M7208 (200ml) glass jar usually used for Chili Garlic or Gourmet Tuyo and even for bagoong. Some also use M7177 (8oz) & M7743 (350ml) for their Kimchi, Atsara or Crab paste. PBF350 and PBF500 for Milk Tea. SPJ350 and YOD200 for Tapioca or Kutkutin.
Due to the simplicity and choice of products, Yvonnie's business has been making her good profits as containers are now an in-demand product due to the rise of small online businesses. Even with low margins, Dimp's Packaging Supplies is able to achieve higher yields due to the volume of orders.
"I can say that at the beginning it was the fear of not being able to push through is one of the biggest obstacles I encountered when putting up Dimp’s. I overcame with with the help of my family. They helped me balance my time and kept on reminding me that everything starts difficult but it will be worth it. Plus of course, I’m confident that the Lord is with me in every step I take," Yvonnie recalled as she was describing how everything started.
Yvonnie also believes that her business is also helping other people. "We just started this business last June and in this pandemic I learned to always appreciate the small things and to always give praises to the Lord in every blessing that He is giving.
"What makes it more satisfying is that in this business venture we are also able to help out clients to start up their own business by providing them quality and affordable packaging supplies. It’s all about helping out each other. Healing as one," she proudly told us.
“Every cloud has a silver lining. Amidst this pandemic we can start that business idea we have, don’t let this pandemic stop you for doing what you meant to do. If the Lord says go, do it with all your might. Be confident on what the Lord has in store for you. Always keep your faith high, higher that how our aircrafts fly." -Yvonnie Jean Dalanon
