One of the greatest misconceptions on flight attendants is that "their job is only about serving beef, chicken, coffee or tea", which I totally disagree and would want to change this. Serving you food and drinks is just a tenth of what the actual training consists. Much to your surprise also, the training program they go through is like one whole college term packed in just two to three months.

It was no easy job making it to five different airlines as a Flight Attendant. The process was a mix of challenges, failures and never losing that drive and determination to get the job. This brings me back to that moment, just right before I got hired the first time. I broke my chances twice before making it to the Airline Industry. One of which, I reached the second to the last stage of assessment before the final interview of Emirates.

Flight attendants play a major and crucial role in every flight. The pilots will not take-off if they are incomplete. They are part of the team that is called the flight crew. While pilots are in charge of the flight deck or cockpit, the cabin crew are in charge of the cabin and everyone in it. They are highly trained to ensure the safety and security of passengers, reason why their role is very important.
Written by Mond Ortiz One of the best way to prepare for your cabin crew impact interview is to practice infront of a mirror or someone like a present cabin crew. Aside from practicing your image like how you stand and walk, you also have to practice how you answer questions while keeping your confidence level up and carrying yourself pretty good. You should be able to answer the questions as honest as you can. Airlines have no time for BS, trust me.
Written by Mond Ortiz How many times have you been rejected when you were applying in the airlines to be their cabin crew? Once? Twice? Thrice? Ten times? Twenty times? Guess what, you are on your wait to success! Wait though, you will be on your way to success depending on how you respond to these rejections. It is normal to feel bad, yes, we have emotions but never allow these to derail you from your dream to be a flight attendant.
Written by Mond Ortiz When you climb a mountain, there is one important instruction you have to follow, and that is to never look back, instead, you always have to look forward and up the direction you are going. Looking back down may cause you to lose your focus. It may scare you that you may lose your balance. You also have to always be aware of what is infront of you. You have to always keep your eyes on your trail and on the peak.
Written by Mond Ortiz It is easy to decide to be a flight attendant because it looks cool, you want to travel the world, and because he or she looks good in a uniform, but do you really know what you are getting into? I think this is the most important thing for you to know first before you finally decide to take action to become a flight attendant. You have to know what you are getting into and what you will be going through.
Written by Mond Ortiz When we board an aircraft, notice that the flight attendant will ask you to present your boarding pass for checking. When you are seated in an emergency exit row, your flight attendant will brief you on how to open the emergency doors even if you fly almost every week. All these are mandatory procedures by the airline for various important reasons and we will discuss here why we should never take these against the flight attendants.
Written by F/S Amor Maximo Every flight attendant has a story. It may have started with a dream, a challenge, a goal, or they may have just stumbled on the path to becoming a cabin crew. Luck if you’d like to call it. Destiny to some. And if you are an aspirant reading this, I am certain you have heard a lot of stories on how your friend, an acquaintance, a friend’s friend or any random person’s story that in spite of all the posted qualifications of airlines, they have been accepted by said companies even if they fall short of the bare minimum.
Written by Mond Ortiz Why not? Why stop yourself from pursuing your once dream to be a flight attendant? Others told you so? Well allow me to tell you why you should pursue your dream to be a cabin crew. First of all, it is your dream to be a cabin crew, and not anyone else. Basically that is the most important. Trust me, those who will tell you not be a cabin crew are most of the time, those who never became one.
Written by Mond Ortiz I have been witnessing cabin crew graduations from Philippine Airlines, PAL Express, Cebu Pacific, and CebGo since 2015 and I never got tired of them, despite having only one format. The part which excites me the most is the one where they share their cabin crew stories. Well the pinning of the wings is also a very exciting part because I get to see their reactions once their wings are pinned as official cabin crew.
Written by Mond Ortiz Why do you want to be a flight attendant? Why do you want to endure the long lines to be interviewed knowing that the attrition rate is high? Why do you want to endure the grueling training process of becoming a cabin crew? This is a question that is very important before you even take the first step of becoming a flight attendant. Why do you want to become one?
Written by Mond Ortiz I do understand that you pray everyday that God will grand you your cabin crew dream one day. We pray for His blessings. Guess what, He will not make you a cabin crew in a snap of a finger. Instead of making you one, He will slowly develop you to become a flight attendant. He will not feed you with fish, instead, He will teach you how to catch fish instead.
We usually get a lot of questions from aspirants about becoming a cabin crew. One of the notable questions asked to us was "can I still be a flight attendant even if I am a single mother of two?" We would also get questions like "do you need to look like a model or celebrity to be a cabin crew?" We now answer all these questions by having no other than Philippine Airlines flight attendant Yna Ramos as our guest.
Written by Mond Ortiz It is very important to know first what airlines look for among the pool of aspirants to be their flight attendants. Apparently, they are not looking for those who want to travel the world and see different places. They are also not looking for people who want to enjoy free travels and who are after the benefits. They are looking for people who are fit to be flight attendants, and this is very important for all to know.
Written by Mond Ortiz I am pretty sure many of you go through our flight attendant pictures as a source of inspiration. Please continue doing that, and I promise that more pictures will be posted. However, do you see the message behind all the pictures we post? Incase you don't, here is the clear message: all these people became flight attendants, and so can you! Yes you can and you will be like them too!
Written by Mond Ortiz Yesterday, a cabin crew was going about her normal flight duties during boarding. She was stationed at the door of the aircraft, welcoming passengers and checking the boarding pass which is a mandatory procedure of the airline. She would greet passengers enthusiastically with a "Good morning, welcome aboard! May I check your boarding pass please?" when suddenly, the a passenger shoved the boarding pass right into her face.
Written by Mond Ortiz Yeah right, easier said than done. Well, I must agree but my question is, will you allow negativity and self-doubt drown your belief that you are capable of becoming a cabin crew? I hope not! After graduating college, I told myself that I will own a business and it has to involve the aviation industry. Different situations and circumstances came by that stirred me further away but I did not let them take control of the wheel.
Written by Mond Ortiz One of the common questions we get on our inbox is "what course should I take to be a flight attendant" and "is going to a flight attendant school necessary before applying in the airline?" With regards to the second question, it is not a requirement. Though going to an FA school also has its own advantages, it is not really required and you will still go through the same training in the airline, even if you took courses in aviation.
Written by Mond Ortiz Last week, I interviewed Philippine Airlines flight attendant Yna Ramos for our vlog Cabin Crew Talk on our YouTube channel Flyhigh Manila TV. One of those questions I asked her was, "what does it take to be a flight attendant", and her very first answer was "GUTS". Yes, "guts"! Unexpected right? Guess what, she is correct. To be a flight attendant, you need to have the 'guts' to take the very first step.
Written by Mond Ortiz Whether you say you will be a cabin crew or not, you are right! So if you say you will soon be a flight attendant, you are right! If you say you are too shy to be a cabin crew, well, you are right! If you say though "I will be a cabin crew soon", accompany them with action. God will answer your cabin crew prayers if only He sees you working hard to turn your cabin crew dream into a reality.
