Just recently, a Korean Air flight attendant was confirmed positive with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). She did not fly to and from China, but flew routes to and from Los Angeles and Tel Aviv. This clearly shows the exposure of flight attendants to the dreaded disease. Flight attendants are indeed the most exposed to the passengers, being and facing them for more hours in an enclosed cabin.
It is indeed true that many flight attendants fear the COVID-19, yet, most or all of them face the threat boldly knowing that there is a mission to accomplish and a sworn duty to uphold.
Hence, it is best fitting to do this appreciation post for them.
To be a flight attendant is not simple. You just cannot have that dream to travel the world then, presto, you are a cabin crew. Honestly, it takes more than confidence, intelligence, integrity, and heart. More than those, it takes bravery, dedication, and selflessness. To be a flight attendant, none of these traits cannot be missed out, hence, every flight attendant out there carry these traits in them. They are simply amazing, ika nga sabi ng Smart dati! Simply Amazing!
During these times, especially in a time of an outbreak which puts a threat to our health and eventually our lives, everyone are afraid. Some would rather opt to hide, and some would avoid other people. Some have the option to say no and stay home. Yet for these flight attendants who face hundreds of different passengers everyday knowing that they themselves can contract the dreaded disease anytime despite all precautionary measures undertaken, they chose to face all fears and defy all the negativity to accomplish their sworn duty.
These flight attendants are like warriors. In the battlefield, anything can happen. They can get injured, or even worse, lose their own lives. Regardless of the risk they face, they will fight in the name of protecting others, saving lives, and being of service to others which is indeed the highest form of honor one can give to the country and to God. Right now, these flight attendants are fighting a more challenging battle but I know, nothing can stop them from accomplishing their mission and that is to bring every passenger from point A to point B safely regardless of the ongoing situation.
To all our cabin crew, know that your braveness and dedication will be rewarded. You guys are indeed the bravest of the brave, defying the odds in the name of your duty to uphold the safety, security, and comfort of every passenger despite knowing the risk you face especially in a time of an outbreak.
It takes a lot of EQ, dedication, bravery, integrity, focus, courage, and confidence to be where you are right now and we hope others would be inspired by your commitment to carry-on the duties and responsibility of a flight attendant.
As I would always say, being a flight attendant is not just a career, it is a calling, a calling to SERVE, PROTECT, and SAVE others, even if you have to put your very own lives at risk. You are indeed our heroes in the sky.
Safe skies to you all, thank you for your heart of gold-plated steel, and know that you are all highly appreciated!
